Treasures of Life – The Joy of Grandchildren

Treasures of Life is a great stamp for all the grandparents out there. Being a grandparent, I see joy and love in these sweet images. You don’t have to be a grandparent to use this set – it can be used for a parent or any other type of relative or close friend.

I just spent a wonderful weekend taking care of 3 of my grandsons–actually anytime I’m with any of the grandkids is wonderful. Hearing them laugh and the funny things they say and do always bring me joy. Who doesn’t enjoy tons of hugs and kisses, playing games, cuddling up to read, going out to the park, baking and even stamping (yep trying to teach them early to craft)? How sweet are the moments when you peek into their rooms after they’ve fallen asleep and when they wake up the next morning and hop onto your bed. Those are treasured memories. I love doing all those things, but I must confess, they wipe me out! I forget how much energy you need to keep up with them. The great thing about being a grandparent is that after years of raising your own children, now you can choose the times you want to play and the times you need a break!

Treasures of Life

After I got home, I was inspired to make a card with this set. The Treasures of Life is found on page 71 of the 2021 January – June catalog. The cling set has 3 images and 4 greetings. I think it’s a great set for scrapbooking family memories, congratulating a new parent or grandparent on the birth of a baby, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and any “just because” occasion. I like that both images with children can be a boy or a girl.

So let’s get into the details of this card. To begin, this is a fun fold card. Although the card doesn’t stand as in a traditional fold, I like the way it folds down and reveals the images. I left the middle section blank to write a note to the recipient. All the images were colored with Stampin’ Blends and each of the colored panels were stamped with the floral image from the Beautiful Friendship set. The key to this fold is that you glue down the first inside panel, then fold down so that it meets the bottom panel and then glue your bottom panel. You want top and bottom to line up.

Did you see the 3 small hearts in the bottom corner? They’re the resin hearts from the Snailed It Collection on page 55 of the January-June catalog. I wanted hearts for this card so I colored 2 of the white hearts with the Dark Pumpkin Pie and Dark Bermuda Bay stampin’ blends. Did you know you could do that?!
