Nailed It and Build It

Nailed It

Here’s another Father’s Day card, which like I said in my last post you can make it into any occasion masculine card or save it in a file for next year. I debated whether to post this card since everything but the Wood Texture Designer Series Paper is retired and you can’t get it now, but I decided to since some of you already have the Nailed It and Build It Framelits and this card could give you a new way of using it.

Nailed It

This is a perfect card for that handyman / carpenter in your life. I used the side step card fold to create this card. I still had some Brushed Silver cardstock that Stampin’ Up! sold years ago so I used it for the tools for a more realistic look, but if you don’t have any, you can use Smoky Slate cardstock. To write your sentiment on this type of fold, you can write on the back of the card.

What do you think of this card? Let me know by leaving me a comment below.

Out In The Woods With Lovely As A Tree

Lovely As A Tree, Colorful Seasons

Yes, another Father’s Day card…just think masculine card ideas. I was up very late Saturday night trying to make my Father’s Day cards but ran out of time to make all the ones I wanted to make for the special men in my life. I had to keep it simple, if I wanted to make any at all.

The Lovely As A Tree set is great for creating quick cards. This set has been in the catalog for a very long time, way before I joined Stampin’ Up! in 2010. It’s a much loved stamp because there are so many ways to use the images in this set. When I first got this set, it only came in wood-mount but now it’s available in clear-mount for all of you clear-mount lovers.

To create a woodsy feeling, I die cut an adirondack chair from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits using one of the sheets from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack. Of course, you have to have a drink out there, so I stamped one from the Colorful Seasons stamp set and die cut with the Seasonal Layers Thinlits. I did a little sponging, added my sentiment and it was done! I was going to pop my sentiment but forgot that I wanted to do that. That’s ok. Sometimes you just have to step away from your card and let it be.

Are you one of the many that owns Lovely As A Tree? Let me know by leaving me a comment below.

Wood Rings – Father’s Day

Wood Rings

I’m a little late with this Father’s Day card but thought I would share it anyway. To replicate, you can just switch the sentiment. The main image on this card is the new background stamp – Wood Rings. Quick and very simple and that’s exactly what I needed to make this weekend. Hope you had a nice day celebrating.

Have you seen the new background stamps on pages 164 – 165 in the catalog? When I saw them, I knew I wanted the Wood Rings, Sheet Music and Burlap to go on my first order. My next ones to get will be the Marbled and Post Script. I love background stamps because they’re so versatile. You can use them as the focal point as I did on this card. You can use them as a background to your focal point. Ink up only sections of the image you want, or cut out a section and embellish, and any other creative way you can think of.

To ink up this large stamp, you can brayer it or ink it up the usual way. The best way to ink it is by placing your stamp on your table and the ink on top that way you can make sure you have inked your stamp well. After your stamp is inked, place your cardstock on top and place some copy paper over it and just rub the entire stamp or whatever section you want. This will insure that you get a good impression on your cardstock.

What do you do with background stamps? Leave me a comment below.

Congratulations On Your New Home

At Home With You

Sorry for not posting this card yesterday, time just got away from me and wasn’t able to post it in time. But here are 2 cards using the At Home With You set. It’s an ideal set to make welcome to the neighborhood cards or to congratulate someone on their new home.

One of the nice features about the At Home Framelits is that it allows you to die cut a door opening so you’re able to stamp your message inside. It also cuts the openings for the windows on the door.

At Home With You

Just in case you’re wondering, I used the Timeless Texture stamp for the rug and the stripe image from the Work of Art set.  I used the same sunflower image for this card as I did in this post.

At Home With You

For the second card, I kept it simple and gave the house a stucco look by sponging. I kept the door closed and added a light fixture….isn’t it cute? I heat embossed the sentiment. There are many other different ways to use this set, but now that you’ve seen 3 cards, what do you think of the At Home With You set?

I have more new goodies that I need to find time to play with. As soon as I do, I’ll be sharing it with you.

Grateful – At Home With You

At Home With You

Today’s card is using a stamp from the new catalog – At Home With You. The main image of this stamp set is the door, but I decided to make a card that showcases the sunflowers so you can see that you can use this set in different ways. In the next few days, I will show you 2 other cards made with this set.

I stamped the sunflowers on the Early Espresso cardstock and embossed the Island Indigo cardstock with the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The image was stamped on watercolor paper, colored with an Aqua Painter and mounted onto a cardstock die cut with the Stitched Framelits. I like the grateful for you sign, and the best thing about it is that I didn’t have to cut it out with scissors because it has a coordinating die to do it for me.

This is a stamp I see myself using for Christmas; it’s also great for fall and all the other seasons, as well as congratulations on new home card, birthday and more. Along with the various sentiments, it has many nice images–it’s an all-year round set. Come back tomorrow to see another card with this set. What do you think of the At Home With You set? Leave me a comment below.

Happy Celebrations

Happy Celebrations

You probably want to see some new stuff, but, unfortunately, not today….instead I’m sharing with you a discovery I made using the Happy Celebrations stamp set and Celebrations Duo Embossing Folder. Today’s post has a couple of retired items (color & embossing folder) because I made this card back in March, but most of it is still current.

I started out with the idea of making one card but wound up with two and used the same layout for 2 quick cards. Here’s how . . .I embossed my white cardstock with the Celebrations Duo Embossing Folder, I inked the grunge image and stamped it over the H in Happy with the Dapper Denim ink. I then stamped on my grid paper to see how the color would look stamped off and to my surprise that’s when I discovered that when I stamped over the H, it left an impression on my stamp. I was thrilled about this new discovery (insert happy dance) so when I messed up the original (yes, that happens to me, too) I decided to start over and use the stamped off image for a second card. It’s not debossed but it’s stamped and looks great plus saves time in making a 2nd card! Now isn’t that cool? I think so.

Happy Celebrations

I used the Hexagon Dynamic Embossing Folder for the first card. For the second card I used the retired Falling Petals Embossing Folder. All the colors are current except for Tip Top Taupe which was the base for the card.

Maybe others already knew of my little discovery, but I didn’t know so to me it’s new! That’s what happens when you experiment when your stamping, you never know what you’re going to get…this sounds like a Forrest Gump quote lol.

Now why is it that sometimes we’re afraid to mess up and don’t explore different ways of doing things with the tools we have or perhaps we don’t want to waste paper? Here’s what I do when I’m not sure about a layout, I use copy paper and when I’m satisfied then I stamp it on my good Stampin’ Up! paper.

I hope to have some projects with new stuff soon. I didn’t get a chance to play with my pre-order items and now I’m waiting on the order I placed when the catalog went live.

Have you discovered anything new when creating? Leave me a comment below and let me know.

Thanks for stopping by . . . have a blessed day . . . till next time . . . Brunie

Birthday Banners Party Pop-Up

Birthday Banners, Large NumbersAs I was looking through my projects, I realized I hadn’t posted this card that I made back in June 2016, so I’m posting it today especially since I don’t want you to miss out on the retiring Party Pop Up Thinlits Dies that are retiring.

This was a special card for an 18 year old and if you’re turning that age you need a special card, right? So for the front of the card, I used the Large Numbers and the Birthday Banners stamp sets. Both these sets make a big impact.

For the inside I used the Party Pop Up Thinlits Dies for that wow effect. (Oh, oh…there goes that Gorgeous Grunge again making its way into another card – I told you I used it a lot).

What do you think? If you were an 18 year old or any age, would it wow YOU?

Looking ahead . . .Two more days for the new catalog. Some of the products that demonstrators have been able to pre-order are so popular that they have gone on backorder and that’s just with demonstrators purchasing! Don’t worry …more are on the way.

Live, Love, Grow, My Sweet Friend

Live Love Grow

This card is so simple yet makes an impact. The Live Love Grow stamp was used to make this friend card.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to play with this stamp set too much. I got it late and just ran out of time, but I’m looking forward to playing with it some more, even though it’s retiring. I die cut the cardstock from the Lots of Labels framelits by placing the framelit below the top curvy part so it just has a curvy bottom and stamped the image on it. Succulents are popular right now, and although I like these plant images, what drew me to the set was the font on the sentiments. They’re so sweet – not overpowering. I love bold lettering on sentiments but I also like this type of font – it gives it a sweetness to the card.

I consider myself to have a green thumb and my garden thrives with pretty flowers when the rabbits are not eating them. Years ago, I had several succulents inside the house and yet I couldn’t seem to keep them alive. I’m thinking I watered them too much. One of my favorite succulents is like the one I stamped on this card with the flower – I don’t know the name of it. Do you? I think I need to try growing these type of plants again now that I’m a little wiser.

There are many other plants in this set. How would you build your terranium?

Fresh Fruit

Fresh Fruit

Fresh Fruit is such a versatile stamp. Use it all year long to make birthday cards, thank you, encouragement, Valentine’s or any other love occasion, attach it to baked goods, make recipe cards out of it. As you can see, there are many possibilities.

For this card, I used the Petal Burst Embossing Folder and added color by sponging. Here’s my thought process on this card. When I was designing this card, the centers of the flowers were not black and I had a different color cardstock for the sentiment, but it just seemed to bland for me . . . there was no pop anywhere so I decided to go with the black cardstock and emboss it with white embossing powder. Now the flowers needed something and I didn’t want to put the enamel shapes in the middle so I stamped it with black ink. I like the contrast of the dark with bright colors. What do you think? Do you like it or is it too much?Leave me a comment below.

Helping Me Grow

Helping Me Grow

Here’s a sweet card to thank someone for their kindness. The Helping Me Grow set was the main focus of this card. I also used Gorgeous Grunge (again!) and One Big Meaning for the sentiment. The small butterfly is from the Papillon Potpourri set. The embossed background was done with the Seaside Embossing Folder.

More Love You Lots

Love You Lots

Hi Stampers!

Did you know that there are exclusive host stamps in the back of the catalogs? To get these sets, you need to host a workshop or place an order of $150. Today I’m featuring my favorite retiring one from the Annual Catalog – Love You Lots set. I love these cute images, they’re so much fun to play with.

In this first card, along with the Love You Lots set, I used the Sealed with Love stamp and Love Notes Framelits from the Occasions catalog. Notice another stamp I used under the hedge hogs? Here’s a clue .  . . I featured it in yesterday’s post. Give up? It’s Gorgeous Grunge again! I told you that’s one of my favorite sets. I use it A LOT! Will definitely miss it.

Love You Lots

For my second card I used the elephant and left out the mouse that’s in the image by masking it with a post it note when I inked up my stamp. I used the Festive Embossing Folder. So cute!

Love You Lots Friend 1

This 3rd card I used the 2 cute ladybugs from the set and Gorgeous Grunge for the lines and Work of Art for the dots. You can see more about this card by clicking here.

Want to see another one with Love You Lots and Sealed With Love? Click here. Now don’t you wish you had this set?

Sunburst Botanical Blooms

Botanical Blooms

Two posts in one day? Yep! I’m posting again to catch up and show you some of the cards I’ve made with items that will be retiring soon. I don’t want you to miss out if you’re interested in any of these products. Today’s card features 3 retiring products . . the Sunburst Thinlit die, the Botanical Blooms stamp set and my all time favorite Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.

Botanical Blooms, Sunburst

Today’s card was made to celebrate a special birthday. The lines in the background was created with Gorgeous Grunge. I stamped a couple of the images from the Timeless Texture stamp on the die cut and on the stitched circle. The numbers are from the Large Numbers Framelits cut out from gold glimmer paper and the flowers are from the Botanical Blooms.

Botanical Blooms - Endless Thanks

Here’s another card using Botanical Blooms which I’m not sure if I posted before. One of the features I love about this set and the coordinating Botanical Builder Framelits is the border and the dimension in the flower Click here and here for some more cards using the Botanical Blooms set.

I started creating links to cards I’ve made with Gorgeous Grunge, but as I was doing that, I realized that I’ve made so many that you would be clicking forever. So I’m going to highlight only the ones made with other stamps that are currently retiring or will still be in the new catalog. Click here and here and here and here for Gorgeous Grunge. If you like to see more of the Gorgeous Grunge you can click on my search button. This is one set I would highly recommend!!

Click here to see a simpler card with the sunburst thinlits.

Hope you enjoyed going down memory lane with these sets. Did you know that the Botanical Builder Framelits are half price and the Botanical Blooms is discounted right now? Too good a deal to pass up!

Everyday Hero

Everyday Hero

Are you a super hero fan? Do you love watching all those Marvel movies or other super heroes? I do and so does my family. I believe we’ve seen all or most of the super hero movies so I knew I had to get the Everyday Hero stamp set. I made this card for my son who does indeed love watching super hero movies. I couldn’t think of any masked flying super hero out there so I made him into my own Superman version . . . he just forgot to take off his glasses when he changed into his alternate costume without the ‘S’.  He actually reminds me of the Incredibles but that’s not who I wanted him to be for this card.

I went for a happy birthday sentiment from the retired Big Day Sale-A-Bration stamp from a couple of years ago since there wasn’t a birthday sentiment in this set, but you will find many other fun images and sentiments. I also added the Urban Underground Embellishments, which unfortunately is on the retiring list and supply has been depleted. The Everyday Hero is also on the retiring list but it is still available until May 31.

There are only a few days left for the retiring items and I still haven’t shown you some of my projects that include products that will be retiring soon. I may have to do more than one post the next couple of days so be on the look out for that.

Here’s some exciting news! On June 1st the new 2017-2018 Annual catalog debuts with some great stamps and products!! I’ve gone through the catalog a couple of times and I’m making my list of items to get. One of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is that we get to see the new catalogs first and preorder select items before the catalog is live. Want to get your own catalog and see what all the excitement is about? If you’ve ordered from me or have attended my classes this past year, I’ll be happy to give you one.

On a personal note. . . If you’re one of my regular readers, I apologize for the absence. It’s been hard getting back on track after my mom’s passing in addition to all the family events that have occurred since then, thankfully they were happy events, like my Dad’s 80th birthday celebration, my daughter-in-law’s baby shower, and my 2 month old grandson’s dedication and celebration. Although sad not to have my mom present in these type of celebrations that she loved being part of, I am thankful for these wonderful blessings God has allowed in my life at this time.

As we think of what Memorial Day means today, I want to say to all those super heroes who bravely and sacrificially gave their lives to protect our country, THANK YOU!! Words are hard to find to express my gratitude for your courage.

Beautiful You – A Tribute to My Mom

Beautiful You

Today’s project was one we made at my February class. I used the Beautiful You stamp as my focus for this canvas piece of art.

Are you wondering how I made this? You may think it was stamped directly on the 3″ x 3″ canvas but it was not. It was actually stamped on a coffee filter cut to fit this canvas size. I tried stamping directly on the canvas with our ink pads and stamping on tissue paper and gluing it onto the canvas but I wasn’t satisfied with either one. Then I tried a coffee filter and it was perfect – no image gaps or bleeding. I loved the way it came out – looks like it was stamped directly on the canvas. The small heart is from the Jar of Love set.

I’m sharing this project with you today as a tribute to my mom. She passed away a week ago on Friday April 7 after almost 20 years of suffering with various ailments that stemmed from one particular disease. There were 3 other times she was near death but because of God’s mercy she miraculously bounced back. Throughout those 20 years she had short stretches of doing well and other times she was in and out of the hospital and rehab. This last time when she went into the hospital we felt she was not going to bounce back and although she got to go home for 3 weeks, it was not the same. She was weak and pretty much bedridden. She then developed an infection that took her life. I am thankful that she went peacefully and was surrounded by those she loved and is now healed in God’s presence.

My mom was a person who cared for those less fortunate. If you needed a place to live, her home would be open. She was a protector to those she felt were not being treated right. She brought joy to those who knew her. She laughed and had fun. She loved to play games with family and friends and enjoyed watching sports of any type. She loved to cook for everyone, and she was very generous to those in need. She loved being around her family. I will miss spending time with her and will cherish the memories of a mom who loved me. She was a wonderful person and she was loved!

Thank you for letting me share this personal story with you.

Delicate Details Birthday

Delicate Details

Today is my mom’s 78th birthday and this is the card I made for her. Unfortunately she’s in the hospital right now so I wanted to make something cheerful yet soft. She loves lace and what better stamp to use than the Delicate Details from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. I wanted something dainty so I added some lace trim and one of the Falling In Love Embellishments on my flower and of course, pearls to give it that soft look.

Recognize the big flower? It’s from the Flower Shop set and the small ones from the Petite Petals set. Did this card cheer up my mom? Did she like it? Yes indeed and she loved it!

There are 2 more days to shop to get your FREE Sale-A-Bration item. I would recommend this set – it makes such a nice background. Check out another card using this set? Click here.

Any Occasion & Hey Chick

Hey Chick, Any Occasion

Today’s card features Hey Chick & Any Occasion, two Sale-A-Bration stamps used to make this humorous thank you card. The ‘thank you’ from the Any Occasion set was stamped in Night of Navy, cut with scissors, then adhered with half of a Stampin’ Dimensional. The embossed circle was sponged with Tempting Turquoise whereas the Pear Pizzazz banner was not. Do you see the difference in how the sponged circle embossed area stands out more?

These 2 sets will be gone soon. Sale-A-Bration is almost over and supplies are available while they last so don’t let these get away. Click here to see another Hey Chick card.

I apologize to my readers for not posting regularly. Life has gotten a bit hectic dealing with taking care of several family members. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to post tomorrow or Wednesday how you can create 2 cards out of 1 embossed card so make sure to come back.
