Joyful Life – A Little Something For A Great Person

Today’s card features a Christmas card using the Joyful Life stamp with the hedgehog being the focal point. In another post I used the bear to make a friendship card. Like I mentioned in the previous post, this is such a fun set to play with.

If you’re a cutesy stamps person, you’ll like this set.

Do you ever have a specific sketch in mind but can’t get it to work until you change something? When I started making this card, I was heading in a different direction. I knew I wanted to sponge on the Hammered Metal embossing folder and I wanted the hedgehog image. I tried it different ways but I was not satisfied. It wasn’t until I decided to make it a square 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card that everything came together by making it look like a gift.

I probably would’ve changed the sponging to gold embossing but I didn’t want to keep fussing with it since I had already spent way too much time on this card. Let’s get into the details.

Card Details

  • The card base is Real Red cut at 4-1/4″ x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″.
  • 4″ x 4″ Basic White cardstock embossed with Hammered Metal 3D embossing folder
  • Using a Blending Brush, I sponged Crumb Cake ink to middle section of embossed cardstock
  • Two Real Red Sheer ribbon pieces approximately 4-1/2″ each with ends adhered to back of embossed cardstock. Another piece of ribbon was tied to where both ribbons meet.
  • Red rhinestone jewel was adhered to back of his apron
  • Hedgehog stamped onto white cardstock with Memento Black ink and colored as follows with Stampin’ Blends:
    • Hedgehog – Dark Soft Suede, shoes – Light Soft Suede, face & hands – Light Crumb Cake
    • Bowl – Light Granny Apple Green
    • Holly – Dark Old Olive
    • Fruit & apron – Dark Real Red
    • Bottom shadow – Light Smoky Slate
  • Stamped image was mounted onto Real Red scallop circle from the Layering Circles dies, then mounted onto a larger Granny Apple Green scalloped circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Circles mounted onto card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • A small tag from the Tailor Made Tag dies was used for the sentiment that was stamped in Memento Black ink
  • The tag was tied to the Real Red ribbon with linen thread and tied into a bow

I have one more image to stamp from this set which I’ll share in a future post.
