Happy Monday!
The Waterfront stamp is a very versatile stamp and you can make lots of different scenes. Today I’m focusing on the love sentiment and one of the smaller images in the set that may be overlooked.
When I started making this card, my idea was to add a little subtle color to the tin tile embossing folder. Using a sponge dauber, I started adding color but when I added the yellow, it just went downhill for me. First of all, I accidentally used the now retired Pineapple Punch yellow which is a very bright yellow instead of Mango Melody or So Saffron inks which are not so bright. I was not satisfied with this card at all so I decided to start over.
Starting Over . . .
I wanted to keep the focal point the same as the 1st card, but keep it simple. This time I went with the subtle embossing folder and stamped the last house with Bumble Bee ink to match the Bumble Bee gingham ribbon. I much prefer this card to my first one. Sometimes less IS actually more.
So what’s the point of this post? I wanted to show you that every card we make is not always a winner. And for those of us who have been making cards for a while, we’ve had our share of losers and winners. Sometimes what we envision, does not always translate onto cardstock. So we keep trying until we’re satisfied with our piece of art. Everyone has different styles and tastes and maybe, just maybe, you like my first card and that’s great. too. It’s just not my style.
So what should I do with the first card? If it’s your style and you like it, it’s yours! I’ll mail it (US only please) to the first person who leaves me a comment below.
