A Scrap Cardstock Turns Into An Embossed Beauty

Did you know you could combine various embossing folders on your card? That’s what I did on this card, yet it was totally unplanned, but that’s the best part of all! It started with an idea I had for a card using embossed strips of cardstock. I took a scrap cardstock that I had punched with a circle punch and embossed it with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder (one on the right). I was planning to cut it into a strip, but then I thought I wonder how it would look if I embossed over that embossed area with another folder so I used the Hammered Metal 3D folder. It didn’t have quite the effect I was looking for, but then I noticed the opening at the bottom and realized this piece of scrap paper would make a nice card. I already had a strip of cardstock embossed with the Lace 3D folder so I used it in the middle as my “ribbon”. My original card idea was to use the ‘kindness is always in style” sentiment from the Dressed to Impress stamp and I was happy to see that it fit perfectly in the opening. To add some color to the card, I stamped the flower images from the same stamp set, colored with Stampin’ Blends, and die cut them with the coordinating All Dressed Up dies. I added a few rhinestones for the finishing touch. These are not colors that I often use together, but I do like this color combo.

You never know where your inspiration is going to come from – this time it was from experimenting with different embossing folders. I like the way this card turned out. What do you think? Have you ever started with one idea that turned into a better one?
