Pierced Blooms and What To Do With Unused Die Cuts

So many times when I sit down to create, I wind up with unused die cuts or punched pieces that I think I’m going to use but then my project takes a different turn. As a result, my piles of unused pieces have grown. I started out with a small basket that has now turned into several quart size bags. When I needed an element that I knew I had in my unused pile, I would look through it but it would take a long time. I decided that in order for these unused elements to be readily accessible, I needed to organize them – after all, if you know me, that’s what I like to do! I went through all my pieces which seemed like FOREVER but so worth it because now I have organized bags with circles, ovals, squares, frames, flowers, small die cuts, Christmas elements, embossed cardstock and my half finished cards.

Today’s card was mostly created from my bags of unused die cuts. I had the pierced blooms and scalloped frame die cuts in my pile so I challenged myself to come up with a card using it. This is something I will try to do often so my pile will dwindle.

Pierced Blooms Dies

I love the way this card turned out. I think it’s so cheery. Love everything about it – the pierced flowers, the fun shapes in the background, the scallop frame and the sentiment. Sometimes when I love how a card turned out, I find it hard to part with – do you feel the same or am I alone in this? But making cards is what I do, so I can send this card to cheer someone’s day and make another one just like it and frame it with a happy sentiment.

The Pierced Blooms Dies is a stand alone die. It had a coordinating stamp in the 2021 January – June catalog, but only the Pierced Blooms dies carried over. It’s a nice set that comes with 25 dies with various size flowers, leaves, stems, bow and a label.

Watercolor Shapes & Peaceful Moments

What do you think of the background? I used the Watercolor Shapes stamp found on page 102 in the Annual Catalog. It’s a Distinktive stamp with different shapes. Perhaps when you look at it, you’re not sure what to do with it, but you’ll find that it’s so much fun to play with. It doesn’t come with a specific coordinating die, however, it coordinates with the Layering Circles Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies and the Double Oval Punch.

The sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments set. It’s a carry over from the 2020 – 2021 Annual Catalog and has many sweet sayings.

Card Details

My ink selection was based on the color of my pierced flowers so I used Paper Pumpkin which I stamped off, Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight and Memento Black for the sentiment.

For the cardstock I used Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and white.

The rhinestones were colored with Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends. The flowers and scalloped frame from the Stitched So Sweetly dies were mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
