My Beautiful Sweet Daughter is Married!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted and here’s why . . .  For weeks, I’ve been extremely busy preparing for my daughter’s wedding who got married on Saturday to a wonderful man (Kenny).  I must say she radiated with beauty and the wedding was wonderful – everything went smoothly and even the weather cleared up for the day!  It’s taken me a few days to recuperate – you don’t realize you’re tired until everything is over and then bang you feel it!  For several days, I didn’t go to sleep until the wee hours and woke up early just so I could finish all my projects on time.  So what was I doing besides meeting with vendors and running errands with her?  Here are a few things I did and will share some of the pictures in future posts. . .

  • In January I made 180 invitations . . .  using SU card stock and stamps, of course!
  • For her bridal shower I made her a cook book made up of favorite recipes from home and from her husband’s family.
  • For the ceremony, I made her programs to match the color scheme of the wedding which was the same color as the invitations.  If there was a back order on Old Olive and Very Vanilla is because I ordered tons of those two colors!
  • For the reception, I put together a slideshow of her and Kenny (her husband) starting with pictures of grandmothers and parents on their wedding day and pictures of both of them through the years with family and friends and ended the slideshow with pictures of just the two of them.  This took me weeks of scanning pictures, getting the right songs and tweaking but worth it!
  • Tables were named after flowers that were in the centerpieces so I stamped a few images of flowers around the name of the table then placed in a frame.  She preferred this rather than having numbered tables.
  • For people to know where these tables were, I made a seating table chart.
  • I made 158 seating place cards.
  • Melissa (my daughter) and her bridesmaids made chocolate covered pretzels (her favorite) to give out to the guests which I then packaged into cute treat holders.

There was a lot of cutting, stamping, scoring and fun!  Some of you might be thinking that I could’ve saved time by buying or ordering some of these things. You’re right,  I could have, but I would’ve missed the joy of making something myself that’s one of a kind and something special for a daughter who’s been a blessing to me!

Have you made something on your own for a special occasion?  Leave me a comment and let me know what you’ve made.  If you haven’t you can, too, – all you need is paper, ink and stamps!

Till next time . . . Brunie
