A Spanner Panel Bridal Shower Card with Celebrate Sunflowers

Bridal shower cards don’t always have to be the usual wedding type image. For this card, I used the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp and Sunflowers Dies with a special card fold.

This type of card fold has been called Spanner Panel Fold and Double Panel Bridge Fold. No matter what it’s called, I love this fold. I think it gives the card a touch of elegance and adds an unexpected element to the card.

When you raise the first panel you will see the middle section.

Lift up the flap and you will find your sentiment. The side panels can be seen in the middle and bottom layers.

Below is another card that we made at my Christmas card class using the now retired Whimsical Trees Bundle & Whimsy & Wonder DSP using the same layout.

Whichever way you decide to create this fun fold, I know you’ll love it because it’s so easy.

The strip at the bottom is what makes it a bridge card. The width of my strip was based on how much room I needed for my sentiment.

Although both cards are similar, you can change it up.

  • How about 2 – 3 narrow strips across the card.
  • The strips can contain images or sentiments.
  • Windows sheets (acetate) can be used for your strip.
  • Embellish your strip and keep the background panel simple.
  • Adhere the strip behind the two panels instead of in the front.

How To Create Bridge Card Fold

  • Cardstock cut at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4
  • To make opening in the front, place cardstock with 5-1/2″ side on top at the 1-1/4″ mark and cut down to scoring line. Flip the cardstock over and repeat on the other side. Now you have the 2 panels on the sides separated from the middle section.

Card Details for Sunflower Card
