Cards, Mother's Day

Welcoming Windows & Dragonfly Garden – Mother’s Day

Here’s another Mother’s Day card using the Welcoming Windows and Dragonfly Garden stamp. In yesterday’s post, I mistakenly mentioned that the Mother’s Day greeting was from the Color & Contour set, but in fact, it’s from the Welcoming Windows set.

Making Mother’s Day cards brings back memories of my mom who passed away four years ago and my mother-in-law who passed away last year. I will always cherish the memories and relationship with these special ladies.

I love window boxes and one day I’ll install them at my home, but for now I’ll put them on a card. Because I wanted to incorporate the Dragonfly Garden flowers into my window card design I made a 5″ x 7″ card. Click here to see another card with the Dragonfly Garden set.

Welcoming Window Bundle

The Welcoming Windows and Window Flower Box Dies were first introduced in the 2021 January – June Catalog and thankfully, it carried over to the Annual Catalog. You can purchase this set as a bundle and save 10%.

So what’s in this bundle? The Welcoming Windows comes with 19 stamps – 6 greetings and 13 images. The images consist of 3 different sized pots, a window, jar, flowers, bricks, and shutter. The coordinating Window Flower Box Dies comes with 16 pieces and allows you to die cut the stamped pots, jar, flowers and shutters. In addition it comes with some extra dies like the window box, another type of window, shutters, brackets and some other accents.

If you look closely, you can see the ridges in the shutters and window boxes – so much detail without having to emboss and you get it all just by die cutting! How can you use the windows?

  • Make a single or double window.
  • Make an inside window instead of outdoor one.
  • How about a swinging window?
  • When you die cut the windows, it die cuts the 4 window panes so you have several options – leave as is, put a piece of window sheet behind it, place another cardstock behind it like I did, or curtains with DSP or ribbon like the sample below – many possibilities.

You can use this set in other ways without using the windows. Use the pots by themselves and create your own garden. Use the jar filled with flowers or without the flowers. How about using the long brick/ledge image as a shelf and place your pots or jar on it.

Card Details for Card #1

Today’s cards were designed the same way with just a couple of variations. In both cards, window box was mounted with mini stampin’ dimensionals on both ends and pots were adhered in the middle. Flowers were adhered with stampin’ dimensionals.

  • Soft Succulent cardstock was used for the card base as well as for the shutters.
  • Painted Texture 3D embossing folder on Soft Sea Foam cardstock
  • Window was die cut and a cardstock the same size adhered to the back
  • Window Pots were stamped with Cinnamon Cider ink and flowers with Evening Evergreen and Daffodil Delight inks and pot in the bottom of card was stamped with Cinnamon Cider and flowers with Soft Succulent and Polished Pink inks
  • Bricks were stamped with Sahara Sand ink
  • Dragonfly Garden flowers were stamped with Evening Evergreen ink and colored with Watercolor Pencils – Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso
  • Mother’s Day greeting stamped with Evening Evergreen ink

Card Details for Card #2

For my second card, my goal was to duplicate the colors and style to my son & daughter-in-law’s home as close as possible. Although they don’t have window boxes, they have siding on top so I chose the closest to that look using the retired Pinewood Plank. There’s a brick ledge in the middle and bricks on the bottom. I think I came pretty close to it using the supplies I had.

  • The card base for this card was thick white cardstock
  • Sahara Sand cardstock embossed with Pinewood Plank folder
  • Black cardstock for shutters and cherry cobbler cardstock for brick ledge stamped with brick image
  • Bricks were stamped off with Cherry Cobbler ink
  • Flowers were stamped with Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Cherry Cobbler inks
  • Dragonfly Garden flowers were stamped with Evening Evergreen ink and colored with Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight & Calypso Coral watercolor pencils
  • I die cut one of the shutters and stamped the sentiment with Evening Evergreen ink.
  • Two rhinestones colored with light Cinnamon Cider ink were used here.

This is a great set to make welcome cards for a new homeowner or for scrapbooking about your own home.

Thanks for stopping by . . . till next time . . . wishing you a wonderful Mother’s Day.
