Happy Tuesday! For today’s card we’ll focus on the Rooted In Nature stamp and the Birch Background stamp.
Although this card has orange tones, it is not as orange looking in person, but somehow it looks like that in the picture. As much as I tried adjusting the lighting in my editing software, I had no luck changing it to show you the true colors of the card. So what do you think? Do you like this or is your reaction a “whoa, too bright!”
The Rooted In Nature is a cling stamp set consisting of 10 images and 6 sentiments and it’s on the Last Chance list. Because of the size of the stamps, the set comes in two stamp cases.
The Birch background will be returning in the upcoming catalog but will no longer be offered as wood mount due to the fact that Stampin’ Up! is no longer offering wood-mount stamps. Let’s go ahead with the details of this card.
Have you ever made an easel card? Easel cards are easy to make and they display nicely. The secret to the card standing upright is the stopper you put in front of the card. In this card, there is a 4″ x 1-5/8″ cardstock at the bottom adhered with dimensionals. This allows the top of the card to rest on that strip. You can add anything for your stopper such as a button, a die cut flower – anything that the card front will be able to rest on. Instead of stamping images on your card front, you can always add a picture that you’ve taken and want to display. So what are the measurements?
Card Details
The card base is 4-1/4″ x 11 scored at 2-3/4″ and at 5-1/2″. Fold the card in half as you would do for any top vertical card, but then fold the 2-3/4″ section up (valley fold). This section is adhered to the top part of the 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card front (see picture above). You have plenty of space to write your message above the bottom strip.
- Card base is Old Olive
- Sahara Sand cardstock for stamping the birch stamp image and a 4″ x 1-5/8 piece for the bottom – both stamped with Sahara Sand ink
- White cardstock for the stamping and sponging – 5-1/4″ x 4″
- Cardstock was sponged with Cajun Craze, Terracotta Tile, Crushed Curry and Real Red and leaves were stamped with Old Olive ink and then torn on both ends. Torn edges were sponged with Sahara Sand ink
- Two artistry blooms sequins were added to front of card
- The leaves were die cut from the coordinating Nature’s Root Dies and then sponged
- The old olive & gold ribbon is retired but guess what? You can get it in the Clearance Rack right now!
- The label at the bottom was die cut from the So Sweetly Dies
- When placing the inside card layer for your message, make sure to adhere it to your card base before adhering the bottom strip.
- Both sentiments were from 2 retired stamp sets
Another Rooted in Nature Card
Here’s another card using the Rooted in Nature stamp. The emboss resist technique was used here. The leaves were stamped with VersaMark ink and then embossed with white embossing powder. After I sponged the different colors, I rubbed off the excess ink with a paper towel. When you do this, the stamped images will resist the coloring and the white image will pop. I made this card a long time ago and forgot to write down the colors I used for sponging. The vellum leaves peaking out on the side were die cut with the Nature’s Root dies. And here’s another card using other images from this stamp set.
If you’re a nature lover, this is a nice set to add to your collection. What do you think of this set?
Thanks for stopping by . . . till next time . . .
