I love many of the stamps in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog but I’ve come to the conclusion that Painted Poppies is my favorite stamp set since the first time I saw it in the 2020 January – June Catalog at a Stampin’ Up! conference. Whew! I was very happy to see that this set made it through another year! However, the Butterfly Wishes from which I stamped the butterflies was not so lucky and neither was the Butterfly Duet Punch.
I made this card a couple of weeks ago when I was struggling with card ideas. (Doesn’t everybody go through that at some point?) I decided to just sit and play with a stamp that I love and do some watercoloring which then led to spring theme cards. It’s a quick and simple card which resulted in pretty results. This set doesn’t have any greetings but it’s worth getting just for the various flowers and other images. It coordinates with the Painted Labels Dies. Don’t they look like they’re swaying in the wind? Below are the details.
Card Details
- Card base – 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ Thick Basic White cardstock scored at 4-1/4″
- Card layer – 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″ Basic Black
- Watercolor Paper – 5-1/4″ x 4″
- Flowers and greeting were stamped with Memento Black ink
- The flowers were colored with Melon Mambo and Calypso Coral inks using the water painters
- For the grass, I used Granny Apple Green ink and once dried, I used Garden Green ink. When watercoloring, it’s good to wait until the color is dried before applying another over it.
- I brushed Balmy Blue ink with the water painter for the sky
- The butterflies from the Butterfly Wishes stamp were stamped with Flirty Flamingo and Melon Mambo. Then they were punched with the Butterfly Duet Punch and a rhinestone was added.
