Bonus Days

The main feature of today’s card is how the dies from Ornate Layers were used to create this card. Let’s go right into the details:

The 3 flower borders on the card was created with the rectangular flower die (top right).

Usually we die cut with our dies, but there’s more we can do with them. I die cut a piece of vellum with this die and then used it as a stencil. Using the sponge daubers, I sponged ink on the die cut vellum. The vellum cardstock and window sheets are good products to use for stencils because they’re transparent so it allows you to see through to the project you’re working on.

Since my sponge daubers were already out, I decided to use them on my cardstock behind the sentiment. Again, I used another one of the dies from the Ornate Layers to frame my sentiment from Sailing Home. To dress it up, I used the Ornate Garden Old Olive ribbon and linen thread.

This sentiment reminded me of the Bible verse “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” My hope is in Jesus and through every storm that comes my way, He is always my anchor.

So did you know you could use your dies as stencils? If you did, have you tried it? Look through your dies and see what you can use as a stencil. Imagine all the stencils you can have to use on your projects. After you’re done, save the stencils for another time.
