Want to Play? Game On!

Hi There!

For today’s post, we’re going to focus on Game On, one of the new stamp sets from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. When you go through a new catalog, how do you go about deciding on what stamps to purchase? I usually try to get sets with images or sentiments that I don’t have in my collection. I definitely didn’t have anything with cards, chess or dice – so it was a winner because I love playing games whether it be cards, board games and other types of games.  This set has 6 game images and 3 related sentiments.

Game On

Here are the details on this card: First of all, if you don’t recognize the cardstock color that’s because it’s been retired for a while even before I became a demonstrator 10 years ago! It’s a nice teal color that we don’t have in our collection right now, but I needed that particular color. Somehow, I must have gotten a retired assorted pack of paper way back when I started. Anyway, moving on . . .  I stamped most of the images with Smoky Slate ink, except for the playing cards which I used Lost Lagoon, a retired ink, to match the teal card base.  I colored the holes in the dice with Mango Medley Stampin’ Blends. The chess board on the bottom part of the card was stamped with Basic Gray.  I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder on black cardstock and used the label from the All Dressed Up Dies.  Game On doesn’t have any coordinating dies, so any cutting would have to be with scissors, but the images are easy to fussy cut. That’s exactly what I did with the dice and then adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals for some added dimension. I was pleased with the way this card turned out and I’m looking forward to making more cards with this set.
