Cards, Father's Day

Father’s Day By the Dock & Mystery Stamping Challenge

Today I’m continuing with my posts featuring cards for Father’s Day or masculine cards for any occasion you like.

By the Dock

The stamp I used on this card is called By the Dock and uses the Dockside coordinating dies. I used only part of the dock so it would work with my card layout. The bottom part of the card was stamped and die cut twice, then glued side by side.  Before I adhered any of the die cuts, I used the aqua painter to apply pool party ink for a color wash. I stamped the water ripples with Pool Party ink. The dock was stamped with Memento Black on Gray Granite cardstock and the boat was colored with Stampin’ Blends markers.

I cut off an inch at the top and adhered the small banner with sentiment behind the white cardstock.

Mystery Challenge Cards

I’ve missed holding in person classes so I’ve been getting together via Zoom for some stamping fun. The By the Dock card was one that I made for the Mystery Stamping Challenge. Mystery Stamping is a challenge I give my customers to create a card without knowing how the finished card looks like.  During our meeting, I give them step by step clues until the mystery is solved and the card is revealed. The first clue is a list of materials to gather before the meeting begins. They use whatever materials they have on hand . . .  and let’s face it if you’ve been creating for a while, you have plenty of stuff you can use. This is a good way to use your supplies and take some time off to create with others.  Because everyone has different supplies and we’re not sharing what we’re using, all the cards will look different. I asked several of my customers to send me the cards they created for this challenge and here are 2 of them.

Mystery Stamping Challenge

When you participate in these challenges, it doesn’t matter the card orientation – just whatever is going to work with your supplies. The first card made by RuthAnne was done as a horizontal top fold and the 2nd card by Linda was done in portrait mode just like mine. Both of them followed the clues, yet look different.

Mystery Stamping Challenge

Creating with friends is so much fun as we chat and create. Have you participated in a Mystery Stamping Challenge? If you haven’t, try it – it’s fun!

Come back tomorrow for my last Father’s Day card.
