Best Birds & Brusho

Hello Stampers!

This week I’ll be sharing with you a few projects made with some retiring stamps, and along the way a few sneak peaks into the new catalog. For today’s project let’s take a look at the Best Birds stamp.

This stamp set not only has birds and flowers but a variety of sentiments you’ll be sure to use – birthday, anniversary, wedding, thoughts of you, congratulations and it’s a good day. The nice thing about this set is that it also has coordinating dies so you can easily die cut your stamped bird, branch, flowers along with other detailed birds.

For this Mother’s Day card, I used Best Birds and Brusho Crystal Color for the background. If you’re not familiar with Brusho, they’re watercolor crystals. For best results, use watercolor paper. You can use Brusho in several ways. For this card, I sprinkled various colors of Brusho and then sprayed water. Here’s a tip for you… if you spray it close to the paper, the colors will come together and blend. The further away you spray, you’ll be able to see the different colors as in this card. I absolutely love playing with the Brusho. You will get different results each time. For this card, I used all 5 colors that are sold in the pack.

And here’s another card using Brusho and the Dandelion Wishes stamp set. This time I used the emboss resist technique where I embossed the flower image – in this case, I used white embossing powder, and then I applied color and the image resisted the color. I used all 5 colors here as well, but sprayed a bit more than the previous card. I love the way this card came out!!

This next card, I sprayed closer to the watercolor paper and I also used an aqua painter to brush  water on paper before I sprinkled and afterwards to spread the color.  See how the colors blended more? Read more about this card here.
