Have you had the opportunity to try out the new Stampin’ Pierce Mat and the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack yet? In this post I wrote that I was going to miss my piercing mat when I found out that it was on the retired list. Little did I know at the time that Stampin’ Up! was going to introduce a new and much better mat. I LOVE stamping with this much larger mat which is approximately 6-1/2″ x 9-1/2″ x 3/8″. It provides even pressure which results in better ink coverage when you use it to stamp, especially with large or background stamps.
Not only can I use the Stampin’ Pierce Mat for stamping but I can also use it to pierce my projects for that extra dimensional look. I love the NEW Essentials Paper Piercing Pack. This 6 x 6 Paper-Piercing template pack comes with 3 different piercing templates to use with some of our edgelit dies, framelits dies and punches like all our circle punches, the decorative & curly label punch, the oval punch, large tag punch and heart punch . . . or you can simply create your own design. Stampin’ Up! also came out with the Festive Paper Piercing Pack which coordinate with the ornaments, labels and window frames dies – you can find this in our Holiday Catalog. The piercing mat is wider so I can go the entire width of the card without having to slide it over to have a continuous piercing row like I had to with the retired one. I recommend you have one Stampin’ Pierce Mat for stamping and another one for your piercing projects.
Of course to make all those perfectly spaced tiny holes you need the Paper Piercing Tool. This piercing tool has a 4″ ergonomic handle with a 3/4″ piercing steel tip. It comes with a storage tube and protective cap so you can store it safely and not get pricked each time you go for it.
Try a faux stitch look on your project by making continuous holes on all 4 sides and then connecting them with the color marker of your choice.
