High Tide & Sailing Home – Your Light Shines

Happy Tuesday! When I decided to post this card using the High Tide and Sailing Home stamps, I forgot that I had posted a similar card four years ago! Since they have some differences, allow me to share it with you.

I made this card early on during the pandemic when my church was collecting cards to send to healthcare workers. I thought it was a great sentiment to share with others then and still is now.

When you look at both cards, you will see some similarities but you will also see some differences. For today’s card, I used the lighthouse from the Sailing Home stamp set. The High Tide stamp set is retiring and although the High Tide and Sailing Home sets are similar with a nautical theme and both have lighthouses, I think it’s worth having both in your stamp collection.

Card Details

Let’s look at some of the details in this card . . .

  • Card base: Basic Black 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
  • The clouds were made from an old cloud template I made 10 years ago out of scallop punches. You can do the same from scallop dies, all you need to do is die cut or punch scallop circles and adhere them – overlapping them in a semi circular form. Then you place them on your cardstock and sponge the edges and create your clouds in any direction you like. I used Balmy Blue ink to sponge the clouds.
  • The water was stamped with one of the images from the High Tide stamp with Pacific Point ink and then sponged over.
  • Sand was stamped with Sahara Sand ink, birds with Basic Gray ink, grass with Old Olive ink, and the beaming light across the word ‘light’ with Daffodil Delight ink.
  • The lighthouse was stamped with Memento Black ink and then colored with the following Stampin’ Blends: light Night of Navy for the bottom, light Smoky Slate for the top, light Daffodil Delight for the inside lights and Crumb Cake for the sand. Lighthouse die cut from one of the Smooth Sailing dies.
  • The lighthouse was popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
