Easter Bag With Springtime Joy & Stacked Stone

Today’s project focus is on the Easter Bag I made for my grandchildren. The bags were mainly stamped with the Springtime Joy and Stacked Stone stamps.

I have six grandchildren ranging in ages 6 months to 6 years – 5 boys and the youngest is a girl and it is so much fun to create things for them at this age. This year I decided to make them bags to put random items in each one but I wanted one that was big enough to hold all the items so I chose to make the same size as I made a few years ago. You can see the post here. Besides the stamped images, the only other difference between the one I made several years ago and this one is that cardstock was used for the handle instead of ribbon.

The bag is actually a bag in a box. Inside the basket is a box and then you wrap the panels around it.

Card Details

The box inside is a 8″ x 7″ cardstock scored at 1-1/2″ all around. The 2 bag panels are 10″ x 6″. The bottom strip is 1-1/2″ x 10″ and the top strip is 1″ x 10″. For the handles, I used 3 strips glued together which measured 1-1/4″ x 11.

I stamped a cross on the front of the basket from the retired Blessed By God stamp and stamped the lamb and other images from the Springtime Joy stamp. On the back of the basket, I continued stamping with the Springtime Joy and also used the chicken from the Hey Chick stamp. The bottom strip was stamped with the Stacked Stone set and the Happy Easter greeting came from another retired stamp, Sweet Little Baby. To make the colored circles, I used sponge daubers.

Everything was colored with ink refills and blender pens. For projects like these, you need to use a strong adhesive so I used the Tear and Tape adhesive and the liquid glue. I wanted a strong handle so I glued two strips together, fastened the sides with a brad and then glued another strip so that the brad fastener wouldn’t be seen in the inside. Each bag was personalized by typing “Jesus loves __________________(the name of the child} and then I die cut it with one of the circles from the layering circle dies and tied it with baker’s twine. I added some grass and my bag is ready to be filled.

Easter

I put a cross on my bags so that the real focus of Easter would be front and center. Easter is a special holiday for my family. It’s a time when we remember the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross by dying in our place and we celebrate His glorious resurrection. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Thanks for stopping by . . . till next time . . . have a wonderful day . . . Jesus loves you.
