Let’s take a break from cards and talk about tools – specifically the Take Your Pick tool.
Perhaps you’ve missed this tool in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. It’s been around for a couple of years and it’s one of my favorite tools. You can find it on page 159.
It’s a multi tool in one rubber barrel. It has putty on one end, a spatula and paper piercer, and a stylus in 2 different tip sizes.
What’s So Great About It?
Let’s explore each feature . . .
The putty picks up sequins, rhinestones and any other small embellishment and places them exactly where you want them on your project. It makes it much easier than trying to pick it up with your fingers. You can pick up small die cuts. You can even pick up small pieces from your craft table like the stampin’ dimensionals paper that you remove from your dimensionals! (These pieces seem to follow me because I’m always finding them in places where I wasn’t crafting!) If you run out of putty, the tool comes with an extra putty attachment. You can also purchase a 2 pack replacement. I’ve found that my putty lasts for a while.
The stylus is great for scoring your cardstock.
With the paper piercer you can make a hole anywhere you like – in the center of your flower to insert a brad or twine, or wherever you want stitching.
The spatula is my 2nd favorite feature after the putty. You can pick up adhesive backed embellishments with no problem grabbing the adhesive right under the embellishment. You can remove a ribbon, a die cut that has a glue dot or dimensional or other adhesive. I’m not sure about the tear and tape because I haven’t tried that one yet. My favorite part of the spatula is being able to correct mistakes or if you changed your mind about positioning. I’ve been able to slowly remove an entire 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer with no damage to my card base if I notice it’s crooked or just changed my mind. That was my biggest and happiest discovery about the tool!

Take Your Pick Die Brush
Since the video was released a couple of years ago, Stampin’ Up! added the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip. You probably remember that we used to have a stand alone die brush. This one adds to the versatility of the Take Your Pick tool because the die brush can also be attached to the tool. This brush is perfect to remove small pieces from the dies and die cuts.
The die brush is a separate purchase from the Take Your Pick Tool. When you purchase the Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip, it comes with 2 foam pads. You place your die or die cut on top of the foam pad and brush over it and all the little pieces will fall off.
The Take Your Pick Tool is definitely one that belongs among your crafting supplies!
