Watercolor Wings
Cards, Sympathy

Butterfly Thoughts & Prayer

Here’s another card I made a while back combining two retiring stamps – Butterfly Basics for the image and Rose Wonder for the sentiment. I used the Butterflies Thinlits to die cut both butterflies. I love everything about this card. I think it’s simple yet elegant.

The Butterfly Basics stamp set is a great collage stamp which allows you to layer your images one on top of the other.

This card is perfect for a sympathy card or simply to encourage someone. Sympathy cards are one of those type of cards that you don’t make often but when the time comes, you need it right away. This has been a rough year for our family as we’ve lost several family members and close family friends every month (except February) since January. Keeping up with making sympathy cards sometimes can get overwhelming. I usually don’t have extra sympathy cards because I tend to design my cards with the recipient in mind.  It’s not one of those occasions where you look forward to creating a card but yet I know it means so much to the recipient who receives it and lets them know you’re thinking of them and care.

So what makes a nice sympathy card? I think the best thing to do is to keep it simple and use more muted and calming colors instead of bright and loud colors. Expressing a heartfelt sentiment means even more than the design on the front of the card.

Do you keep a stash of sympathy cards ready to go or do you make them as needed? Leave me a comment below and let me know.
