Sympathy – Thoughts & Prayers

Today’s card features Thoughts & Prayers, one of my favorite sets that has been around for a while. I used the sentiment from the Rose Wonder set to create this lovely sympathy card. Although the Thoughts & Prayers set has a sympathy sentiment, I wanted a bigger font size for the front.

Thoughts & Prayers

The watercolor background was made with clear block C and the Wild Wasabi, So Saffron and Wisteria Wonder markers. I scribbled each color (separately) onto the clear block. After each color, I sprayed the block with water (enough to saturate but not soak) and stamped on the cardstock. I repeated the steps with the other 2 colors.

I like the watercolor effect it gives and that each time you stamp it the result is different. I then stamped the image and sentiment with Archival Black ink and added pearls to the flowers. For a finishing touch, I added the Silver Metallic Thread around the stamped cardstock. The woodgrain embossing folder gives the card added texture.

I like to mix in the ‘old’ with the ‘new’. Although it’s fun playing with all the new stuff, it’s also fun rediscovering the older stamps in your stash that you fell in love with when you bought them. So this weekend mix the old with the new and dig out your Thoughts & Prayers set or another favorite set and discover different ways to use it.
