Today I’m featuring two 3″ x 3″ cards using a hostess set from the Occasions catalog and one from the Annual Catalog – both retiring soon. The first stamp is Love You Sew. I made a spool shape card with the Envelope Punch Board following a tutorial I came across from Papercrafter45. The sentiments in this set are cute. I like everything about the card – the sentiment, the shape, the Sahara Sand lace trim, the little blossom embellishment and the stitching made with the Uniball Gel Pen. The sad news is that everything on this adorable card is retiring. This was an easy card to make. Here’s how:
Card Details
- Cut thick white cardstock at 6″ x 3″ to create base; score at 3″ and fold
- Take your envelope punch board and place folded edge at the 1-1/8″ mark on punch board and punch
- Flip card over and punch on the 1-1/8″ mark again and now you should have 2 punched out sections on the same side
- Repeat steps 2 & 3 on the other side of card (opening)
- You should now have 2 identical punched sections on both sides of the card
- With card folded and using your scissors, cut off pointed section starting from one indentation to the next; repeat on other side
- For your front and inside layer cut cardstock at 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″; repeat steps 2 & 3 for both squares, except place your cardstock on the punch board at the 1″ mark; cut off points on each cardstock as in step 5
- Stamp the sentiment with Basic Black Archival Ink and draw your stitches around the front layer with the Uniball Gel Pen.
- Thread lace trim through opening on card base to the front and tie knot; adhere blossom accent with glue dot and add rhinestone to center of flower
- Make an envelope for a 3″ x 3″ card with the Envelope Punch Board. Unfortunately, you will have to hand deliver this card since this size cannot be mailed. Any crafter would love to get this card!
For my second 3″ x 3″ I used Best Thoughts and Cottage Greetings from the Annual Catalog.
I stamped the hydrangea with Marina Mist; sponged edges of cardstock with Marina Mist. Stamped sentiment with Archival Basic Black ink and die cut the banner with the Large Numbers Framelits. Adhered to card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals and added a pearl on each side of the banner. I absolutely love the Cottage Greeting font and I’m glad it’s not retiring. This card was quick and easy card to make.
