I mentioned in this post what I made for my daughter who got married 11 days ago. One of them was a cookbook for her bridal shower composed of her favorite recipes from our home and her husband’s (I’m still trying to get used to saying that!) favorite recipes from his home.
I wanted to make a cookbook in shape of a pot so I used my Cricut Electronic Cutter to cut out the pages using Tempting Turquoise, Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Bermuda Bay card stock for the base. The cookbook had about 35 pages. For the front and back covers, I glued 2 – 3 card stock together to make it sturdy. I stamped all the pages with the Textured Wheel and then stamped other images or cut out shapes for embellishments. These olives were made with punches – don’t they look real?
I used my oval framelits and gingham wheel for each section. I used several stamps for this project – mostly retired . . . Herb Expressions, Sweet Herbs, Just Believe, Perfectly Preserved, Cherish Friendship, For Teacher Builder Wheel. I also used Tea Lace Paper Doilies on a couple of pages.
I started the book with a dedication page and ended the book with this page about character and herbs. Although it took a while to make as I gathered and typed recipes, and figured out what and where to stamp and add embellishments, I loved the way it came out and so did she!
Start collecting your recipes and make one for your son or daughter. It’s never too late to pass down those favorite family recipes onto your children, grandchildren or other loved ones, and I’m sure they will be cherished for generations to come, especially if it’s handmade by you!
I would love to hear what you think of this cookbook. Leave me a comment below.
Till next time . . .
