Before winter comes to an end, I thought I would share a card with snow using the stamp Freezin’ Fun.
Although this set was from the 2020 August – December catalog and is now retired, I hope you don’t mind me sharing it with you. You can use the same design for the stamps you have in your collection.
Believe it or not, winter is one of my favorite seasons because it’s quiet and serene especially when snow has blanketed the landscape. I much prefer the quiet instead of the ongoing noise from landscaping tools the other three seasons bring.
Making cards for my grandkids is so much fun. I get to play with all the cute critters and stamps that I know they would enjoy seeing on their card. My oldest grandson turned six last month and I thought this would be perfect for him especially since a snow storm was forecasted for the day of his birthday.
Card Details
Here’s what I used and possible substitutes . . .
- Because I wanted room for my scene, I made a 5″ x 7″ card (cut cardstock at 10″ x 7 and score at 5″).
- Balmy Blue cardstock at 6-3/4″ x 4-3/4″
- White cardstock for the snow slopes
- Colored my images with various Stampin’ Blends (see card supplies)
- Stamped the happy birthday greeting from A Grand Kid stamp
- With the black marker, I made the eyes of the raccoon, bunny and seal a little bigger. Also with the black marker, I numbered the snowballs and highlighted #6. After I numbered them, I realized I should’ve put #6 as the top snowball so it could stand out more.
- I embossed the snowflakes with white embossing powder
- For the snow affect, I used the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint
- For the small balloon, I used another retired (Let the Good Times Roll) and attached it with twine
- Wink of Stella on iceberg
Slopes & Slider
- Used the Freezin’ Friends Dies for the stitched slopes – to substitute you can use the slope die from the In the Woods Dies, Curvy Dies, Shark Dies
- For the slider opening I used a retired Word Window punch but you can use anything you have that gives you an opening. Here are a few substitute suggestions: Classic Label Punch. one of the Stitched Rectangle dies, an All Dressed Up Dies
- Once you have the opening for your slider, you want to raise the cardstock so you can use dimensionals or foam strips – making sure to leave room for your image to slide. Then you’ll make a sandwich by placing a penny in back of the slide opening, attach 1 dimensional on top and place the 2nd penny on top in front of cardstock. Attach another dimensional on top of front penny and attach your image. (you’ll have 2 pennies, and 2 dimensionals) You’ll want to select an image that the penny cannot be seen.
For the inside I added the penguin, snowboard and used the greeting from the Game On stamp.
Although this card was not a quick & easy card, it was fun to make.
Thanks for stopping by . . . till next time . . .
