Today’s card features the Heal Your Heart stamp from the Sale-A-Bration catalog and Forever Fern from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog to make this soothing sympathy card.
Making sympathy cards is not one you look forward to creating, but it’s nice to know you can make one from your own home when you need one. Since the need of a sympathy card comes unexpectedly, it’s good to have some handy ahead of time.
What colors do you usually gravitate to for sympathy cards? I believe that colors that bring a calming affect are best – light, subtle colors like blues, soft greens, light rose, and neutrals. I would stay away from bright reds and neon colors. As for design, keep it simple.
How Were The Stripes Done?
I created the stripes by masking. I used a 1″ Post It labeling tape and cut it in half to make 1/2″ stripes. I masked the top and bottom of cardstock only 1/4″ and the rest 1/2″. Using the grid paper to align the tape is a great way to keep the stripes straight.
I used the blending brushes for the stripes with the Pear Pizzazz and Just Jade inks.
- Card Base – Pretty Peacock 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
- Leaves stamped with Cajun Craze, Old Olive & Pretty Peacock
- Sentiment Strip 1″ x 5-1/4″ and stamped with Pretty Peacock ink
- Strip attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Grunge dots stamped with Crumb Cake
Sending a sympathy handmade card is a great way to show the recipient you care enough to make a one of a kind card for them. Do you have trouble figuring out what to write inside? If you don’t have a stamp with a sentiment that conveys what you want to say, simply write it by hand or type one on your computer and print. Simple sentiments that come from the heart are always the best for these cards.
Thanks for stopping by . . . till next time . . . hug a loved one.
