Today’s card uses 2 retiring stamp sets – Guy Greetings and Number of Years. I made this card back in February for an uncle who was turning 85 years old. He loves tinkering with cars and if they’re old cars, even better. So as I was figuring out how to incorporate the number on his card I thought of Guy Greetings with the eclipse technique – perfect match.
This set is great for making masculine cards but also works well for graduates. How about these sentiments for graduates – “hats off to you!, “Thanks for this and all the other life lessons you taught me” or for Mothers or Father’s Day. A lot of great sentiments and images. Now to be honest, the only image I’m not crazy about is the man – he just reminds me of the WB Mason man on TV.
The eclipse technique is very popular and you can make so many beautiful cards with it using numbers or letters to create your own words. The secret to this technique is to have a dark background behind whatever you want popped up, in this case the numbers, and to stamp the card before die cutting. When you die cut the numbers or letters, then you place it back and pop with Dimensionals. I also used the Timeless Textures stamp to create the dirt road. For the card base I used Island Indigo cardstock (retiring color) and Early Espresso for the background behind numbers.
