Yesterday Stampin’ Up! released the Retiring List for the Annual and Occasions Catalogs. When you reviewed the list, you may have noticed that all the inkpads are on the list. This does not mean that all the ink colors are retiring! Here’s the scoop…
Stampin’ Up! has redesigned all the ink pad cases for the upcoming Annual Catalog so the current ink pads will no longer be sold. The reason for the redesign is:
- less confusing to open – all you need to do is insert your thumb in the lip at the front of the case and lift it to open
- has a tighter fit between the lid and the base. With the new design, the lid doesn’t accidentally become disconnected.
- Stackable – you will have the ability to stack the cases which makes them easier to store and transport. There is a nub in each bottom corner that fits nicely into the dimple on the top of another case
- Improved labels and stickers – the top label has a cleaner bolder design and larger color swatch, making it easier to see the ink’s color; the stickers include a new In Color icon; introducing a new color sticker you can place on the inside of the case so you can easily distinguish the ink’s color when the case is open.
Besides the ink pad cases the ink formula has been improved since the current ink sometimes bubbles, especially on new pads and with lighter colors which prevented the ink not to be even and smooth when stamped. The new ink formula will:
- reduce ink bubbles
- help you get a smooth coating of ink on the stamp
- help lay down the ink better
All ink refill will have the improved ink formula in the upcoming catalog with new repackaging. You will be able to use the current ink refill on all the new ink pads and vice versa with the exception of the Archival ink pads which will no longer be offered. Why are so many ink colors retiring? Stampin’ Up! has done a color revamp to bring us the most current and on trend colors. Although 13 colors are retiring, 15 NEW colors will be introduced and 5 previous in colors (Poppy Parade, Mossy Meadow, Mint Macaron, Flirty Flamingo, Coastal Cabana, and Blackberry Bliss) will return!! Here are the new colors:
In order to maintain color balance in the color collections, some of the colors have been moved to other collections. You’ll love it!

Everything but the stamps on the retiring lists are available while supplies last. Retiring Stamps will be guaranteed available through May 25 and after that date while supplies last.
FYI…not all stamps that you see in a bundle are retiring. Retiring bundles mean that the offer as a bundle will no longer be available in the upcoming catalog and will be sold separately with no 10% discount.
