Today’s project was one we made at my February class. I used the Beautiful You stamp as my focus for this canvas piece of art.
Are you wondering how I made this? You may think it was stamped directly on the 3″ x 3″ canvas but it was not. It was actually stamped on a coffee filter cut to fit this canvas size. I tried stamping directly on the canvas with our ink pads and stamping on tissue paper and gluing it onto the canvas but I wasn’t satisfied with either one. Then I tried a coffee filter and it was perfect – no image gaps or bleeding. I loved the way it came out – looks like it was stamped directly on the canvas. The small heart is from the Jar of Love set.
On a Personal Note
I’m sharing this project with you today as a tribute to my mom. She passed away a week ago on Friday April 7 after almost 20 years of suffering with various ailments that stemmed from one particular disease. There were 3 other times she was near death but because of God’s mercy she miraculously bounced back. Throughout those 20 years she had short stretches of doing well and other times she was in and out of the hospital and rehab. This last time when she went into the hospital we felt she was not going to bounce back and although she got to go home for 3 weeks, it was not the same. She was weak and pretty much bedridden. She then developed an infection that took her life. I am thankful that she went peacefully and was surrounded by those she loved and is now healed in God’s presence.
My mom was a person who cared for those less fortunate. If you needed a place to live, her home would be open. She was a protector to those she felt were not being treated right. She brought joy to those who knew her. She laughed and had fun. She loved to play games with family and friends and enjoyed watching sports of any type. She loved to cook for everyone, and she was very generous to those in need. She loved being around her family. I will miss spending time with her and will cherish the memories of a mom who loved me. She was a wonderful person and she was loved!
Thank you for letting me share this personal story with you.
