Birthday Blooms

Today’s card features the Birthday Blooms set and Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper (DSP). One of the things that attracted me the most to this set was the font – it just seems like a cheerful one, doesn’t it? I colored the flower with a Blender Pen and put my scissors to work to cut the flower – a lot of twists and turns but well worth it – I like the look when it’s popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The lace behind the banner and the metallic thread gives it a nice feminine look.

How do you feel when you get a birthday card in the mail? Doesn’t it make you feel special? Many people use social media to send birthday greetings, but I think a card is so much nicer! Back in January, Shannon West, a training manager at Stampin’ Up! started a campaign on Facebook to bring birthdays back. She complained for years that Facebook was ruining birthdays, so she decided to do something about it. She posted on Facebook that she would send a birthday card to any of her friends who wanted one. After 24 hours, she received 300 responses and as of February 10 the count was 1,327 names and continues to grow. She even went on a local TV show to talk about her campaign! She carved out a stamp #i’mbringingbirthdaysback to put on each of the cards she sends out. After a few weeks, Stampin’ Up!’s interim CEO Sara Douglass, approached her and asked how they could support the movement. They decided to manufacture the stamp for a limited time only. However, the stamp went live a couple of days ago and was sold out in 4 hours! As a result, the stamp will now become available again on Monday March 7 and become part of the current stamp offering for the foreseeable future. If you would like to order one, here’s the item number – 143573. I’ll be ordering mine next week.

I have gotten better over the past couple of years of sending birthday cards, but in the past I was usually late and then didn’t send them. I decided at the beginning of the year that I was going to stay ahead and be on time with my birthday cards. It’s been a little challenging and I missed one or two, but I won’t give up–I’m determined! Do you send out birthday cards? Leave me a comment below.
