I have had many great days in my life such as the day of my wedding, the births of my two children, their wedding days, and the recent birth of my grandson, but there’s one day that tops it all. April 26, 1976 is the greatest day of my life! Why? Because it’s the day I gave my life to Jesus Christ to be the Savior and Lord of my life. That day I went to church because it was Good Friday, but little did I know that I would not leave the church the same way I entered. My life would be changed forever. I can’t begin to tell you the freedom you feel when you take this step! You feel a burden lifted from you that you were never meant to carry.
Surrendering your life to the one who gave His life for you on the cross is the best decision you will ever make. Consider this Bible verse . . . “But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners” Romans 5:8. He died for you and showed His love for you even before you realized you needed him and were a sinner. What immense love that is! Love that is hard to imagine but is real when you let Jesus enter your life.
Good Friday is a day when we remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us when he was mocked, tortured, spat upon, carried the cross and then was nailed to the cross where he died for you and me.
